04-009. Russel Wright
Modern Spice tablecloth
Simtex
USA, 1950
52 x 52"
Cotton & rayon
Signed with manufacturer's tag

It may be considered a sin to some collectors, but I purchased this cloth as a cutter. It had a half inch mended hole in the center, so I didn’t feel too bad about it, and I thought it'd make a great dresser runner for my 515 Star Dust bedroom set because of this furniture line's similarity to Russel Wright's American Modern furniture from the mid-1930's.

All in all, it turned out quite nicely. The colors in these Curry colored cloths are among some of my favorites, and I have used them extensively in my bedroom. It is funny how well the green matches a bedspread I've had for years!

Normally I don't make purchases online, simply because I like to try to keep away from paying premium prices for objects I may sooner or later dig up in a thrift shop. I was quite happy with this purchase though, and it serves its new purpose nicely. I think Russel would have approved.

Found on April 22, 2004 in an online dealer.
