I’m not sure what it is that draws me so strongly to midcentury flatware, but this butter knife screamed at me from in the bin it was buried in. I’m not normally so drawn in by Scandinavian Modern designs (with the exception of Dansk Købenstyle), but the blade is a particularly interesting shape and the feel of the utensil in hand is outstanding. The teak handle and stainless endcap creates a fantastic overall aesthetic.

I may have made a mistake in not picking up the 2 matching teaspoons at the store, but their appeal was not as great as that of the knife. I always struggle with flatware at thrift shops. It is difficult to know if you’ll ever see more pieces in a particular line ever again, so in picking up less than two full place settings can be a touchy situation. Having two teaspoons and a butter knife is useless to me currently. The knife was so attractive, however, I decided I needed to have it—even if just to use as a butter knife in a serving-type situation.
