04-022. Russel Wright
Residential dinnerware
Northern Industrial Chemical
USA, 1953
Various sizes
Melamine
Manufacturer’s mark and facsimile signature

Until now I've resisted getting into Russel Wright's plastic dinnerware lines, but when I saw this grouping today I changed my mind and began a "one of a color" collection. I picked up 30 pieces in 8 different colors, including a few examples of the rare Copper Penny and Black Velvet shades.

Actually, these were the pieces I passed up earlier in the month (the pieces that were sitting atop the Russel Wright Modern Spice tablecloth I purchased). I’ve been wrestling with myself over if I should make an entrance into collecting Russel Wright plastics or not. The "yes" argument won, but only in that I decided to collect one of each piece in each color. That turns out to be many, many items, but taking into account the fact that I will likely rarely use them for their intended purpose, I cannot justify buying more than one of each. Plus, mix and match can be fun!
