It is rare that I am able to pick up research materials from the era of the objects I am interested in. Art in Commerce and Industry is one example of this type of material, however. Only a portion of the book is dedicated to industrial design, but the sections that discuss household objects is quite interesting. In addition to the normal fare of Herman Miller furnishings by George Nelson and Charles Eames, it also includes several examples of midcentury flatware, which is a personal interest of mine.
