Not so long ago I had a conversation with a collector who used Granite Grey American Modern for everyday meals. This piqued my interest, since I've always been wary of using any of my American Modern pieces because I perceived them as being too delicate to risk use. Since this conversation, however, I've begun to rethink my decision. My collection exists primarily for utility. I like to use all of my objects for their intended purposes, and American Modern shouldn't be an exception to this ideology. In reality, Granite Grey is actually fairly durable—my collector friend actually washes it in the dishwasher—and is least prone to crazing than any other color in the American Modern line.

I haven't actually began using my American Modern yet, mostly because I don't have much of it. I think I will, though. It seems shameful to let such a beautiful design go unused.
