White Clover was Russel Wright's first attempt at decoration on a dinnerware line. The naturalist theme was not a new addition to Wright's visual language, however.

Unfortunately, if you ask a collector today which Wright dinnerware design they prefer, I'd guess only a handful of every thousand interviewed would reference White Clover. The decoration could be one of the reasons for this—people tend to prefer unadorned simplicity in their modernist dinnerware.
