05-075. Charles Murphy
Ceramastone creamer and sugar
Red Wing Potteries, Inc.
USA, 1967
2.5 x 2.5 x 3.75" & 3 x 3 x 3.5"
Glazed ceramic
Unsigned.

The last dinnerware pattern produced by Red Wing before the factory closed, Ceramastone represents the end of an era for modernist table settings. You can already see the trends of the era slowly eroding away the edges of moderniam in the pattern. While the creamer maintains a true modernist stance—graceful and simple, without a handle to detract from the flow of the shape—the sugar is becoming less modern, with a more traditional shape.
