According to a post-1952 hang tag that accompanied Modernmates furniture when it was sold, "Wonderful system: Conant Ball's Open Choice! Based on the simple premise that you know your own decorating needs better than anyone else ever could."
"This system lets you "grow" rooms a piece at a time, lets you add exactly what you want whenever you like. This is the direct opposite of the 'closed suite' system by which you must buy entire groupings, some pieces of which may not suit your way of living at all."
What I find most interesting about this is that it is exactly how I am purchasing the Modernmates line today: one piece at a time to suit my needs. It seems that after over 60 years, this concept remains a sound one!
