05-093. Russel Wright
Casual China deep soup bowls
Iroquois China Company
USA, 1946
5.25 x 5.25 x 2.5" each
Glazed ceramic
Manufacturer's mark and facsimile signature

My bowl situation was dire, so this was an extremely welcome find. For some reason, Casual China bowls seem elusive in the midwest. It seems that many deep soup bowls I find have long hairline cracks down the side, so maybe the reason they aren't around is because of durability. I find this odd, though, since Wright was so proud of the fact that the Casual China line was tough—virtually unbreakable. In any case, his demonstrations of the product line were very dramatic, and involved his dumping a container onto a hard floor. Almost none broke.

Found on August 06, 2005 in Hopkins, MN.
