I often encounter pieces I am unaware of. This is one such case. I am a huge fan of Jens Quistgaard's kitchen designs, and have several examples of these cutting boards with a removable handle that doubles as a knife. I have only ever found round examples, however. This enlongated rectangle was a revelation to me, and now I wonder how many variations on this idea Quistgaard designed for Dansk.

Now the question is, what is its purpose? The enlongated shape at first made me think it is a bread board. The knife, however, is not serrated. Other boards I have use a serrated blade, so I know Dansk produced them. Since this is the case, I believe it is a sausage board. Many cutting boards intended for use with sausage have an indented area to hold the meat so it doesn't roll off the board. Maybe Quistgaard skipped this feature in attempting to modernize the look of the piece, or maybe my hypothesis is incorrect. What other uses do you see a board of this shape having?
