05-134. Josef Albers
Provocative Percussion Volume 2 record album sleeve
Command Records
USA, 1960
12.5 x 12.5"
Offset printing
Designer's name in liner notes

If it weren't for his series of album covers for Enoch Light's percussion series, I don't think I'd ever be able to show any of Josef Albers' work. While these designs rely heavily on his background in the Bauhaus, they still are able to communicate a percussive presence for the albums. In graphic design, style and communication often come into conflict, but a great designer can successfully marry the two concepts into a real work of art, such as the case with this piece.

Left in situ on December 01, 2005 in Minneapolis, MN.
