It has been a good week for art pottery, and although I normally only purchase American designs I just couldn't pass up this piece from my Scandinavian heritage. Upsala Ekeby ceramics are at the pinnacle of Scandinavian Modern designs in my opinion, and I find the work of Ingrid Atterberg to be particularly attractive. Her Negro pattern is reminiscent of many Italian modernist ceramics from a decade or two later. Even though it is an earlier iteration of a style, it accomplishes its look with more grace than the later European pieces.
