I normally jump at purchasing Bennington Potters pieces, but something kept me away from this one. It was priced right and the abstract butterfly decorations were pretty cool and modern, but the loose glaze work and scalloped rim brought the design as a whole out of the earlier simple modernist tradition and into a more 60's or 70's style kitsch. I hate kitsch. I'll probably regret passing it up since I could have easily passed it along via eBay, but I have a hard time selling items that don't "speak" to me.

Honestly, the only reason I even stopped to snap a photo of it was because the thrift shops have been so barren over the past couple weeks and my activity here on Ars Longa has been minimal at best. I hate leaving the site sit stagnant for any longer than I absolutely need to, and hope things will pick up in the near future.

Left in situ on February 04, 2006 in St. Paul, MN.
