06-020. Ben Seibel
Impromptu Frolic coffee pot
Iroquois China Company
USA, 1956
8.5 x 5 x 11.5"
Glazed ceramic
Manufacturer's mark and facsimile signature

This was a truly close call. I actually carried this Frolic coffee pot around with me as I shopped, debating the entire time whether I should purchase it or not. In the end, I decided to leave it for someone else.

When it comes to most Seibel dinnerware lines, and Impromptu in particular, prices are fairly depressed. That, along with the fact that Frolic reminds me of what Mattel's Barbie would see while looking for micro-organisms under a microscope, made my decision for me. It just took 15 minutes for me to come to the conclusion.

Left in situ on March 02, 2006 in St. Paul, MN.

Brad said: Hey Scott I can understand carrying it around the store. I do that sometimes too only to put the item back on the shelf on the way out. Personally, I would have snapped this one up in a heartbeat but I know that you can't leave with everything! Brad

Scott said: I actually went back a couple days later. If it would have still been there, I had already decided to purchase it. Oh well, it isn't the worst example of things I passed up that I shouldn't have. A mistake nonetheless.
