Rimini Blu ash bowl
Bitossi Ceramiche
Italy, 1957
Glazed ceramic
Manufacturer's mark
I have a rule about Italian art pottery: only buy if it has a Raymor sticker. More often than not, Aldo Londi's work for Bitossi in this area was distributed but Raymor. In this instance, however, no sticker means no purchase. If it was one of his large animal figurines I probably would have had a more difficult decision on my hands, but ash bowls are a dime a dozen it seems so I passed this piece by with little anguish.
The Rimini Blu line was produced between 1957 and 1965.
Scott commented: To put it simply: resale value. Pieces with the Raymor sticker sell consistently better than pieces without.
