06-035. Ben Seibel
Tempron Taste Tempters BWS-1684 warmer
Gilley, Inc.
USA, 1951
8.25 x 12.5 x 6.5"
Iron, glass, and sea grass
Unsigned

Lately it seems like Tempron Taste Tempters pieces are coming out of the walls (not that I'm complaining). This 2 quart warmer is a piece I've never come across, however, so it is a nice addition to my small collection. As is usual with most of the Siebel pieces for Gilley I run across, the Pyrex insert is missing. The candle was still with the frame, though, although I'm not entirely sure if it is original or a replacement. The fit isn't quite "right," which makes me think someone added it at a later date.

Found on April 13, 2006 in Bloomington, MN.

Lisa said: Hi, I wasn't aware of this line before, but I really like it's simple, linear design. I have a coffee carafe that I think may be part of the collection. It is a glass carafe sitting in a very simple black metal frame. The carafe swings backwards and forwards for pouring above a little warming tea light (ugh I'm so bad at describing things!). Do you know if it is part of the collection? Thanks, Lisa

Scott said: It may be. The materials are a dead giveaway for Tempron Taste Tempters, especially the sea grass wrapping, although there was also a brass plated version with milk glass and leather wrapped handles. Seibel did several other similar lines, too, using the same kind of materials. If you want to send me a photo, I could possibly help better identify what it is you have.
