06-042. Ben Seibel
Tempron Taste Tempters BW-3114 flat tray
Gilley, Inc.
USA, 1951
14 x 18 x 1.75"
Metal, glass, and sea grass
Unsigned

While I've been finding Tempron Taste Tempters pieces quite regularly as of late, I only rarely find them with their glass pieces still intact. Normally this isn't a problem, since the inserts for most of the shapes were standard Pyrex pieces of the era and are still fairly available to find as replacements. The piece I found today, however, would have been much more difficult to replace. Fortunately this is a complete set, and is in fantastic shape.

The more I find, the more I admire this line and Seibel's use of materials. I think the acquisition of this piece is find that has finally convinced me to keep all of the Gilley pieces I've found lately for my own collection. They truly are fantastic, and I think I'd end up regretting my decision if I sold them.

Found on April 22, 2006 in Minneapolis, MN.
