06-055. Salvador Dali
El Cid etching
Collectors Guild, publisher
USA, 1971
4.75 x 6.75" plate size
etching on paper
Signature in plate

Finding even a plate-signed second edition Salvador Dali etching is exciting for me. I was beginning to come to the conclusion that I would need to skip my custom of purchasing a piece of artwork for my birthday this year. Finances are tight, and no good opportunities had presented themselves to me before today.

El Cid is one piece from Dali's series titled Five Spanish Immortals. Depicted along with El Cid are Cervantes, Velaszquez, Don Quioxte, and El Greco. All are direct sources of inspiration for Dali and his work.

This second edition is not pencil signed, and is from an open edition possibly as large as 9,000 impressions. Even so, I am thrilled to add it to my wall!

Found on July 30, 2006 in Champaign, IL.

Scott said: Your best bet would be to check recent prices on eBay. From what I've seen they normally are in the $50 range.

Robert said: I found one at a yard sale last year, now get this one dollar. I bout it because I liked the frame. When I got home and looked at the back and did some research I was amazed. It was a good day even though the value only a couple hundred as per several sites.

Scott said: Sorry Victor, but I don't give price estimates or make valuations of items. Your best bet would either be to check prices on eBay (these prints turn up often) or contact a professional art appraiser. Good luck!
