06-058. Ben Seibel
Jenfred Ware match holder
Levco Mfg., distributed by Raymor
USA, 1948
2.5 x 2.5 x 2.25"
Brass
Unmarked

This little match holder is a big enigma. It is unmarked, but has all the characteristics of Ben Seibel's Jenfred Ware line. The materials, technique, and style all exactly match other Jenfred Ware pieces I've owned and held. If anyone has documentation (or opinions) about this piece, I'd love to hear from you. Until I see proof that this piece is actually a Seibel design, however, my claim that it is part of the Jenfred Ware line is purely attribution.

Update: I just received confirmation from a fellow collector and member of the Ben Seibel Yahoo discussion group that this is indeed a Seibel design. He has the same piece in his collection with an early Jenfred Ware label still attached.

Found on August 28, 2006 in Richfield, MN.
