06-062. Vera Neumann
Scarf
The Vera Companies
USA, c. 1965
32 x 32"
Acetate
Facsimile signature

This particular scarf has a very deep and rich color palette, which is slightly less Pop influenced than other Vera designs I've purchased today. This could be due to the later production date, or simply be a coincidence. In any case, I like the fact that while Vera's production was so vast and her style is so flexible, you can still see her "hand" in all of her work. Each piece is so distinctive, it is possible to spot it as a Vera design from afar! My only wish is I could have found at least one silk scarf today. Acetate scarves by Vera are in abundance, but cotton and silk seem to be harder to find. I can hardly complain, though, with finding four scarves in one day!

Found on September 09, 2006 in Columbia Heights, MN.
