It's always nice to come home, and it's even nicer to have a whole afternoon to thrift shop! This time of year is particularly rough hunting based on my past experiences, and that trend seemed particularly evident today. In five hours of thrifting, all I found were these two Vera scarves.

The funny thing is, lately most of the people emailing me about the items I find have been wanting to "talk Vera." Not so long ago a gentleman posted a comment on this website and then emailed asking if I knew if Vera's designs were still in production, and if I knew how to get a hold of the people in charge of her estate. It turns out he was an employee of Vera's as a high school student, and wanted to get in contact with her estate to see if anything could be done about furthering her line. Sadly, her wares haven't been produced since her death in the 1990's, but this gentleman was so impressed by his short tenure working for Vera he wanted to do more now that she was gone.

The only thing I was able to tell him was that apparently someone out there is trying to re-license Vera's designs for new uses. I'm not sure if it is her estate or simply a financial stakeholder in her designs, but anyone interested might want to visit The Vera Company and investigate further. It seems like an interesting prospect at the very least.

Craig McCormick said: The Vera Company website is very interesting. I could see Target stores picking up a line. I have been a fan of Vera designs for years after finding about a dozen unused linens at an estate sale. A few weeks ago I found a set of Vera dishes at a thrift store - the first I've seen in person.

Scott said: I could see that pretty easily happening as well, Craig. With Target's focus on designer goods in the past several years — featuring products from Thomas O'Brien, Isaac Mizrahi, Michael Graves, and others — Vera's designs would fit in quite nicely.
