Now that the holidays are upon us and gift giving is customary, I struggle with the idea of gifting thrifted merchandise. I personally would love to be able to do all of my Christmas shopping in the thrift stores, since I'd be able to get more interesting items at a lower price, and would be contributing to the reuse of perfectly good items. My family for the most part does not share this enthusiasm for used "stuff."

One possible exception is my sister in law, who a couple years ago inherited a McCobb Contempri water pitcher from me and ever since has been excited about getting more. I very rarely find undecorated pieces, but when I do, I know where they are going to find a home. So Merry Christmas, Cari. I know we didn't draw your name this year for the family gift exchange, but I had a fortunate day at the thrift shops.

Found on December 23, 2006 in Minneapolis, MN.
