07-005. Jens Quistgaard
Vinegar and oil cruet set
Dansk International Designs, Ltd.
USA, c.1960
9.5 x 5 x 7.5'"
Teak and glass
Manufacturer's mark and designer's initials

I actually debated buying this piece for a while before deciding to make the purchase. I wasn't sure I needed a vinegar and oil set, and sold the rest of my Dansk pieces about 6 months ago. A call home to ask if this was something we "needed" confirmed the fact that if we had it, we would use it. I can't help but make the comparison to the Field of Dreams quote "if you build it, they will come." Except this time it was "if you buy it, it will be used."

Glass and teak go well together, and I particularly like the grooved ridges decorating the top of the finial and stoppers. Quistgaard's combination of materials is always one of the strongest points of his work, and this set is no exception.

Found on January 20, 2007 in Champaign, IL.
