07-009. Charles Eames
Aluminum Group conference table
Herman Miller, Inc.
USA, c. 1958
Aluminum, wood laminate, & rubber
Manufacturer's label

I'm always tempted to buy almost any Eames furniture that I see, but the truth is I really have little use for most of the bigger pieces. I'll pick up every plywood or fiberglass chair I can get my grubby little hands on, but a conference table doesn't really fit in with my concept of how I want my house to look. It may make an acceptable dinner table in some instances and truly is a nice looking piece of furniture, but "not in my house" as they say.

In any case, it was fun to run across this piece on my lunchtime thrift stop today. If you are in the area, email me and I'll fill you in on where it is. Priced at a mere forty dollars, you'll be getting a great bargain.

Found on March 13, 2007 in Champaign, IL.
