07-010. Ruth Gerth
#11230 four-tube bud holder
The Chase Brass & Copper Company
USA, 1933
3.5 x 3.5 x 8.75"
Chrome
Manufacturer's mark

The garage sale season has begun, and this week I did my first round of sales. It was nice to get out of the confines of the few small thrift shops in town, and if this find is any sign of things to come I think the garage sales will be much better to me than the secondhand stores.

This little bud vase was a staple of the Chase line of merchandise, appearing in every product line from 1933 to 1940, when it was replaced with a very similar shape. As is the case with many Chase products, this piece straddles the line between classic Art Deco and what would become the beginning of midcentury modernism.

Found on March 17, 2007 in Champaign, IL.
