Every time I find a piece of Raymor Modern Stoneware ... which isn't that often ... I swear I'm going to begin collecting it. I've always coveted it, but it always seems out of reach to me. Because of this, I've up until now sold the few pieces I have been lucky enough to stumble upon. That was a bad decision. Even if building a small set takes years, the results will be well worth the effort.
When I found this piece today, Kate seemed to quite like it, so I'm now officially starting to collect it. I have the green light! This was actually quite a fun find. Every time we go on a long car drive, instead of stopping at a rest area we'll get off the freeway and search for the nearest thrift shop or antique store. Normally we walk away empty handed, but sometimes these small town shops don't quite know what they have. I find that modernist decorative arts are harder to find in small towns, but when you do find it the price is right.
craig commented: Sounds like you've met your soulmate. I often feel like I'm dragging my wife along... and now with toddlers... forget it! You should definitely keep this. I started with this line piece by piece about 5 years ago, and now (dare I say it?) I think it is my favorite line of those I collect. I find that there are times when it goes cheaply on ebay if you follow it.
