So far, this has to be my find of the year! American Modern double old fashioned glasses are exceedingly difficult to find, and these are my first two. My heart actually started racing when I saw them, which doesn't happen to me too often any more. They really are fantastic!
Ever since I saw a photo of this shape in Ann Kerr's book, I knew I'd never be able to have any. Their rarity almost always makes them available to only the most advanced collectors. I am glad I was wrong in my assumption. When I saw them on the shelf today I was surprised. Not only surprised by the find itself, but by their scale as well. They are a good deal larger than I expected them to be, and are very substantial in the hand. They seem almost like a water goblet without the stem!
It is finds like these that make me want to take more frequent trips back home to Minnesota!
