Add one more title to my list of books written by modernist designers. While Norman Cherner is better known for his Plycraft furniture than his writing, this book is still a great addition to my library. Beyond simply discussing building toys, he talks about the properties of the material he had mastered: wood. Just look at the seminal Cherner Chair, and once cannot dispute his talent. What is most special about this book, however, is the fact that Cherner himself did all the illustration. He definitely had a grand sense of whimsy!
