Just last week I purchased a set of Oyster Grey Casual China salt and pepper shakers at an estate sale, where there was yet another set in Avocado. I swore I was going to go back for the Avocado set and add them to my collection this past week. Normally when I do this, I head back and the item I've waited on is long gone. This wasn't the case, however. They were still there, and available for the original $25 price tag. When I took a second look at them, it became obvious that they weren't a matched set. The bottom half of the shaker set was an earlier "gloppy" glaze, while the top was the more uniform later treatment. Disappointed, I passed them up again.

Fast forward to today ... at the greatest garage sale I've ever been to! As I was inspecting shelves upon shelves of midcentury pottery and miscellaneous stuff, I hear Kate say "Hey, look at this." And in her hand was this pair of Casual China shakers in Sugar White! I was amazed! Before this month, I had never found a sets of shakers in thrift shops, garage sales, or antique marts. I've only purchased them on the internet, and now I've come across three sets in as many weeks. I can only hope this trend continues, especially since this last pair was sold for the whopping sum of one hundred pennies. A dollar. I'll take as many as I can find at that price, no questions asked!

It's been a great month, and I am very thankful for Kate's eagle eye.
