I was expecting that I would be returning from my thrift shop road trip today with a car full of Vera scarves. I figured the thrift shops in small midwestern towns would be full of vintage scarves just waiting for me to rescue them. It turns out my grandiose visions were based apparently on incorrect assumptions. There were plenty of scarves, but only two of them were Vera designs. I wonder if Vera was most popular in larger urban areas?
When I thrift shop in Minneapolis, I normally find at least one Vera scarf for every store, on average. Both these scarves came from a single rural shop, but not too far from a more urban area. Although far from urban itself, I wonder if these smaller towns didn't buy into modern styles as much as people in the cities might have? It would make sense if that was the case, but I wonder if any of you have experienced anything similar.
