It is always fun to add a new designer's name to Ars Longa, and I've been waiting for a long time to talk about Danish designer Acton Björn. I've always thought my first mention of him would be due to a line of stainless flatware he designed for Lundtofte simply called Acton. I've collected this self-titled silverware for years, but have not found any pieces in quite some time.
Flash forward to last week when Kate and I were out scouring central Illinois for a new dining room table in preparation for having Thanksgiving dinner guests. At one antique store Kate admired a Danish Modern candleholder I recognized as being by Björn. I talked her out of the antique store purchase, however, certain that I could find a set in a thrift store. Now just over a week later I've done just that, and I couldn't be happier I married someone with such a great aesthetic sense.
I might add, however, that my attribution of this as being Björn's work is just that an attribution. If any of you have documentation to either prove or disprove this statement, I'd love to see it. I'm almost certain that the attribution is correct, but proof never hurts.
