I don't know what it is, but lately Martz ceramics seem to be everywhere. I think this is the first time in Ars Longa history that I've had three Martz finds on the front page at once three separate finds spanning 6 weeks, not including the damaged cream and sugar set I passed up at a thrift shop yesterday.
While this is definitely a later design, I really had to guess at the date since I couldn't find this shape (MH175-1-M341 w/ handles) in any of the Marshall Studios catalogs I have access to. The original paper tag on the bottom lists the Marshall Studios Home Accent Shop price as $19.80, and the signature in the clay is fairly illegible and unlike most I've seen. The piece is made using the darker color clay, typical of other items produced before the mid-1980's. If you can help me out with a more accurate date, I'd be quite appreciative.
Found on July 16, 2008 in Champaign, IL.
