Before leaving for The World's Longest Yard Sale, my shopping mates and I decided it would be smart to make a "want" list of items we are looking for. One of the items Kate and I decided we needed was a kitchen table. Another was a nightstand. Our criteria for this second "want" was quite specific: it either needed to be from a line of furniture we would like to start building a new bedroom set out of (specifically Conant Ball's ModernMates or American Modern), or it should match what we currently have in our bedroom, a knock-off of American Modern furniture line called Star Dust. I thought we were being far-fetched in our aspirations.

I was wrong.

About half way through our second day of shopping, we stopped at a vendor selling used furniture alongside the road and out of a small building off the road. All four of us — Alex and his wife Sarah, Kate, and myself — started out in the building in an attempt to cool off in the shade. The building was small, but so full of furniture we couldn't see each other after we split up to look around. Since there were no other shoppers in the building at the time, I loudly stated across the room that maybe this would be where we found the "perfect kitchen table." When Kate replied, "I think we found a nightstand" I was shocked, and immediately headed towards her voice. And there she was, standing next to a small set of Star Dust bedroom furniture.

At first the seller didn't want to break up her set, which consisted of a bed, vanity desk, bench, and nightstand. But by this point, Kate and I had plenty of practice tag-team haggling and were successful in talking the seller into selling us just the nightstand, and doing so at a great price!
