We expected to be inundated with Vera designs while at The World's Longest Yard Sale. When we hadn't seen a single piece with that familiar "Vera" signature by late in the last day, we had started to get a little disappointed.
When we came across a vendor selling tables and carts full (literally) of bed linens, I decided to brave it and start digging. This was only one of a huge succession of people selling linens that we visited and up to this point we hadn't seen anything even remotely interesting, so when I pulled this dirty and stained Vera sailboat motif pillowcase out of a pile I think the rush got the better of me.
The dealer wanted a dollar. I talked her down to fifty cents. Kate thought I paid too much, and maybe she was right. I am hoping the stains will come out in the wash, and if they do I will be pleased with the purchase. I'll still be surprised that out of the tons of bed linens, tablecloths, scarves, tea towels, and the line that we dug through, this was the only Vera piece we ever saw.
Note: This item was actually found on August 8th, 2008: day two of my road trip through The World's Longest Yard Sale.
Found on August 11, 2008 in Liberty, KY.
