Harry Laylon's Tom Thumb planters are among the most commonly found Chase pieces out there, and as a set of five was originally sold for a dollar that shouldn't be too surprising. But given the appreciation of the dollar since 1941, I think my paying a premium of five cents wasn't such a bad deal. I mean, what can you get for a quarter any more? Most often if you can find something, it isn't a fantastic piece of machine age design like this!
