I've owned several Josef Albers album cover designs in the past, but for the last several years haven't bothered myself with digging through endless record bins in search of his elusive work. Lately, however, I've been considering opening an online shop that concentrated on high-end graphic design and fine art. This is the perfect excuse for me to start digging through record bins again. And while the cover design isn't the usual reason you see folks digging through thrift shop records, I'm going to embrace this new project whole heartedly. Be watching for my store to be opening within the next several weeks.
Larry Cohen commented: I have several albums from Command Records with these Josef Albers covers. Are they worth anything?
Scott commented: They have a little bit of value, Larry. It's not very significant, but the Albers covers do carry a premium over Enoch Light albums with covers by other designers. Check recently completed eBay auctions for approximate values.
Brian commented: I have several of the Albers' record covers....fabulous! Great find...
Scott commented: Thanks Brian! I had several at one time, but had sold them in a fit of "weeding out." I think it's time to weed back in, though.
Dawn commented: Great find, and what a wonderful idea!
One of the benefits of digging endlessly through those dusty bins has been the discovery of covers like this, and I've got a few. Though I loved these covers because of the sense memories they revived in me (my parents had of ton of 'em and I was raised on this genre of music--so 60s era cocktail party, lol), it wasn't until I came to your site that I learned there could be another reason why I liked them--the fact being they are great design.
Peter and I have been known to keep records we are not especially fond of for the cover art alone. I look forward to your next project.
