Albert Lang

Albert Lang was an American artist, possibly working on Cape Ann Massachusetts in Gloucester during the early 20th century. I've been unable to find any hard facts about Lang, but circumstantial evidence leads me to believe he was involved with the artists colonies in Gloucester. In 1923, the North Shore Arts Association was founded, and produced several internationally recognized figures in American art, including Winslow Homer. It is fun to believe that Mr. Lang was involved in this scene (although probably a few decades after Homer's death), but we will probably never know for sure.

According to an inscription on the back of a Lang etching in my collection, he and his wife Carol had at least one daughter, named Lucy. In that inscription, Lang calls himself an "artist & business man," leading me to believe he was an amateur in the arts.
