Anders Zorn
(1860-1920)
Trained in painting and printmaking at Royal Swedish Academy of Arts in Stockholm, Anders Zorn went on to become one of the the preeminent Swedish artists of the late-18th and early-19th century. As a portraitist his sitters included three American presidents as well as multitudes of dignitaries and the rich. Zorn's other main subject matter was female nudes and rustic rural depictions. His art made him extremely wealthy, which enabled him to amass an important collection of art and objects. These items were willed to the Swedish government, and Today his work is included in virtually all major museum collections across the globe.
