David Gil
(1923-2002)

After graduation from Alfred University in 1948, young David Gil founded Bennington Potters. In his words, his life's work was dedicated to "designing and producing handcrafted pottery intended for everyday use, functional and affordable art for discerning individuals." His handmade modernist ceramic designs mix the best of mid-20th century modernism with the handicrafts movements of the Arts and Crafts era. Gil was the recipient of several prestigious "Good Design" awards given out by the Museum of Modern Art.
