Don Shepherd
(1930-2002)
A "jack of all trades," Don Shepherd's career spanned more materials than the mind can almost imagine. From architecture to glass and furniture to fine art, Shepherd's output places him among the most adaptable designers of the twentieth century.
His career with The Blenko Glass Company began in 1974. While acting as Design Director at Blenko, Shepherd continued to work as the new product designer and consultant with the Libbey Glass Company from 1975 through 1978. After leaving Blenko in 1989, he went in a completely different direction with his career by accepting a position with iconic modernist furniture manufacturer Herman Miller.
Shepherd was tragically killed in an February 2002 automobile accident. He is survived by his wife, six children and 10 grandchildren.
