Norman Cherner
(1920-1987)
Best known for his dramatic namesake bent plywood chair design for Plycraft, Norman Cherner was well versed in most aspects of design. From graphics, to prefab architecture, to industrial design, Cherner was successful. During his time teaching at Columbia University, he authored four books over the course of his career: Fabricating Houses from Component Parts (1958); How to Build a House for Less than $6,000 (1960); Make Your Own Modern Furniture (1953); and How to Build Children's Toys and Furniture (1954).
