Modern Rock(ing Chairs)

OK, I'm going to ask for your help once again ... lately Kate and I have been talking about purchasing a rocking chair for our living room. We definitely want something Modern, maybe towards the Scandinavian end of the design spectrum. Warm, comfortable, and not too low to the ground. Possibly with a nod to traditional rocker shapes, but we're definitely not looking for something out of grandma's cottage (unless, of course, grandma was a fan of modernist design). We've done some research and have a few ideas of our own, but would appreciate any leads or ideas you might have too. Leave a comment if you want to make a recommendation.

Sarah commented: I'm a huge fan of the Rapson Rocker, but maybe that's lower than you're thinking? I wish we could have one, but unless some old person dies and the estate sale people don't realize what it is, I don't think we'll be able to find one that fits our budget. Let me know what you choose, I'm casually looking for a good rocker as well.

Paul commented: You're not going to get much more Scandinavian with a nod to traditional than Hans Wegner's rocker. You might also want to check out the nifty timeline of rockers at http://www.designboom.com/eng/education/rocking/modern.html

Scott commented: Thanks Paul. The Wegner J16 is definitely tops on our list of "to look for" rocking chairs. But unless we somehow get luckier than I expect we can be, our only option is the reissue which retails at $2000 -- more than what I want to spend on a reproduction. Vintage examples don't come up too often, from what I've seen ... but boy, it's nice to dream! I'm keeping my eyes peeled.
