There's an interesting discussion going on at the moment on the Russel Wright Listserv regarding what steps one might make to ensure your collection either lives on beyond your years or goes towards some philanthropic goal. This is something I have not thought much about, and the options are many: leave it for your heirs (if there are any); will the collection to a museum or historical organization; sell it off, since you can't take it with you. I might see myself doing some combination of all these things, in an attempt to make the best for my family and the public alike. That begs the question ... what do you see happening with your "stuff" when you're no longer able to tend it?
