As you're probably aware, Kate and I have been looking to purchase a rocking chair for quite a while, and that effort stepped up considerably once we found out Kate was pregnant. The problem is that ever since Hans Wegner's J16 rocker was recommended to us, I haven't been able to get it out of my head that it was indeed the perfect rocking chair. I am amazed at how Wegner's subtle changes in proportion to a traditional Shaker form can transform it into something with a quintessentially Scandianvian Modern essence. I'm happy to now report that our mission finally came to an end when our new friends Hilary & Steve Eklund at Tandem Antiques tweeted about a vintage Wegner rocker they had in stock. After tweeting and emailing back and forth, we learned that the rocker was in good shape and their price was quite reasonable ... so we jumped on the opportunity, and couldn't be happier. We absolutely love our new rocking chair, and very much recommend checking out Tandem Antiques' website as well as their twitter feed. Thanks for everything, Hilary and Steve!
These news archives span back to Ars Longa's inception in August of 2004. Due to this longevity, many of the older posts may feature external links that have gone dead. Over time websites move pages and some even close shop altogether. I apologize for these inconsistencies, but in the interest in maintaining a full archive even entries whose links have expired will remain in place on Ars Longa.
