American Pickers

Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz are men after my own heart: urban treasure hunters who love to spend their time digging through junk looking for an incredible find. And starting January 18th, they will be featured in a 10-part series on The History Channel called American Pickers. It should be interesting to watch these two long-time friends travel America's small towns, looking not only for objects with monetary value but also those with a story. It should be very easy to get caught up in the thrill of the hunt, and I can imagine the show will make me want to go out hunting for myself.

Lizzie commented: I'm so looking forward to this series. The clips on their website are so much fun, and it looks that the emphasis will be on the find itself - not the value. Of course, monetary value is important, but to us collectors, it is all about the object and the story it tells!

Dawn commented: Thanks for posting this, Scott. It's very exciting, and I can't wait to see it. And you're right, it does make me want to get out there and go hunting for myself, lol.. Lizzie, I do like your understanding of how ..."it's the object and the story that it tells." It's always good to be reminded that "every object tells a story".

About the Archives ...

These news archives span back to Ars Longa's inception in August of 2004. Due to this longevity, many of the older posts may feature external links that have gone dead. Over time websites move pages and some even close shop altogether. I apologize for these inconsistencies, but in the interest in maintaining a full archive even entries whose links have expired will remain in place on Ars Longa.
