Researching Vera

I've long been considering starting a grand research project documenting the designs of pop design superstar Vera Neumann, but the task has always seemed so daunting it has been hard to gain any momentum with the project. So instead of jumping in feet first, I think I'm going to try starting slowly. And it seems like the perfect place to start is with her bed linens. It is a relatively small portion of Vera's vast body of work, but it should let me test the waters to see if there is any interest and if the time required to build a free repository of Vera designs is worth while. So this is where you come in ... if you own any Vera bedding and are interested in contributing to this project, please email me photos of the patterns you own. Right now gathering images is my top priority because a documentation website without pictures is fairly worthless, but if you have any vintage advertisements or articles picturing Vera and her bedding designs I'd be interested in seeing those too. Of course you'll be credited and thanked publicly on the resulting website when it launches, and you'll have my eternal gratitude.

Scott Flanagin commented: Scott, I just posted a new Vera scarf find on my blog. It has s funny story that I think you will totally appreciate. Also I have not seen this pattern on the Flickr page, but have no idea of it's name.

Scott commented: Great story, Scott! I'm glad to have inspired an obsession. And thanks for the nice link, too!
