A Slight Obsession

Jonathan Goldstein has spent the past 8 months extensively researching Paul McCobb's live and work. His studies encompass the vast output of a designer active for two decades, including furniture, lamps, dinnerware, textiles, glassware, and just about every other kind of houseware imaginable. Goldstein's work, starting with an extensive timeline of McCobb's designs, is incredible in scope and will hopefully result in a catalog raisonne of McCobb's entire output. Bravo, Jonathan! This is definitely a worthy task you've undertaken, and I'll be closely following your blog in the months to come.

Kirsten commented: Great news! I am always looking for info on Paul McCobb. He is rarely written about (at least in the design books I have found).

I grew up with Paul McCobb furniture--Planner and convinced my parents to give alot of it to me.

I have had friends tell me if I reduced the amount of furniture in my apartment I would have more space! Are you kidding?

Now if I had more room, I would ask for some of their Scandanavian stuff!

Scott commented: I'm really looking forward to this, too, Kirsten. Unfortunately we don't have any McCobb furniture, but I'm always on the lookout for it as well as his dinnerware designs. Across the board he made some great stuff. It sounds like your parents have impeccable taste!
