1,000 Posts ... 1 Baby

Although I didn't plan it this way, it turns out my 1,000th news post here on Ars Longa is the one that announces a first for me: the birth of my daughter! Franziska Jean Nesse-Lindberg was born on February 18th at 4:25 am. She weighed 8lb 13oz at birth, and both she and mom are happy and healthy. News might be slow coming for the next short while as we all get accustomed to our new roles here at home, but please stay tuned. In the next short while I plan on beginning a new series of exciting articles for Ars Longa that focus on interviews with designers working in the mid-century modern style. The first will be a chat with designer and ceramist Gordon Martz of Marshall Studios. He had some really incredible (and surprising) things to share with us, so I know you'll want to be sure not to miss it. In the meantime, I have some diapers to change.

Barry A. Smith commented: Hum...let's see...spend some of the best times of your lives caring for your new and gorgeous new baby, or go to the Cincinnati Modernism show this weekend? Hum.

Good choice! Your modish moderators will miss you but you'll no doubt be in our prayers.

Scott commented: Thanks guys!

And, Barry, maybe next year we can do another MODish.net meetup and use the Chicago show as the venue. Then Izzy could tag along. I couldn't think of a better bunch to initiate her into the world of Modernism shows.

Congratulations to both you and your wife on the birth of your beautiful little baby girl!
Modernism shows will come and go but this moment is unique enjoy

Hilary commented: Congratulations!! I must have been under a rock, I can't believe I missed it. She is precious, and I am so happy for you guys. These first few weeks can be both amazing and tough - I hope yours are heavily weighted on the amazing side. And for your wife - that old saw about sleeping when the baby sleeps is no joke! I was terrible at that, but if I had it all to do over again I'd sleep every moment I could!

About the Archives ...

These news archives span back to Ars Longa's inception in August of 2004. Due to this longevity, many of the older posts may feature external links that have gone dead. Over time websites move pages and some even close shop altogether. I apologize for these inconsistencies, but in the interest in maintaining a full archive even entries whose links have expired will remain in place on Ars Longa.
