Ben Seibel sculpted and painted. Vera Neumann was an avid painter and printmaker. Ray Eames drew and sculpted. In fact, many Modernist industrial designers either began their careers as fine artists, or made art as a creative foil to the limitations of the design field. And now Eva Zeisel has re-entered the fine art arena with a new series of signed serigraphs in collaboration with James Klein and David Reid of KleinReid studio. Taking cues from the curvaceous forms typified in her dinnerware designs, the Lover's Suite is comprised of 4 hand-screened images (Sprouts, Swans, Tulips, and Wings, ) that retail exclusively at Room & Board for $299 each (via Steve). And if you can't get enough of Zeisel's art, this wasn't her first collaboration with KleinReid. In 2005 they produced two other serigraphs, Magic Language #1 and Magic Language #2, which are built from a more dense layering of silhouettes than this new series. Both are still available for $425 a piece from the KleinReid website.
Steve Basile commented: Had not seen the Magic Language prints before. Rather sumptuous, I'd say.
